Why Do We Hate Helping Ourselves Rise?

Why Do We Hate Helping Ourselves Rise?
Why do we hate to help ourselves rise?
Why does your success feel like my failure?
Why do we only cheer when the one rising is far enough to not threaten us?
We say “I’m proud of you”
But whisper “he thinks he’s better than us.”
We want the light,
But hate the one who dares to shine first.
We want change,
But sabotage the one who dares to lead it.
When someone tries to build,
We mock,
We doubt,
We drag.
We ask, “Who does he think he is?”
Instead of asking, “How can I join?”
We treat growth like betrayal.
As if escaping the mud is a sin.
We share gossip more than we share opportunities.
We trend bad news,
Ignore breakthroughs.
We wait for someone to fail, just to feel better about standing still.
But here’s the truth:
Helping someone rise doesn’t make you smaller.
Pushing others forward doesn’t pull you back.
There’s space at the top, but we fight like it's a one-man elevator.
Maybe it’s fear.
Maybe it’s pride.
Maybe we’ve been broken for so long, we don’t remember how to build.
But until we fix this,
We’ll stay stuck.
Crabs in a bucket.
Pulling down the very hands that could’ve lifted us all.
