TIME AND CIRCUMSTANCE

To whom should you be beholden?
Friends today enemy tomorrow
Enemies today, friends tomorrow.
All that is new is flash and attractive and likely to be embraced by all.
New disease take the world by storm and amount higher death tolls; swelling out new knowledge, safety tips until it becomes old.
Not really old but old in fashion as humanity grows accustomed to it due to its long acquaintance, so it grows old and becomes old in fashion.
Reserve some of your attention for that which is old for that is where your bearing is.
New people might be flashy, and draw all attention and with time by being a long acquaintance fade in fashion and become old in fashion.
As such, they become familiar with people and people grow familiar with them. They both lose touch of each other and that distance brews isolation, brews enmity and it is not held in high esteem as that which is new but treated as that which is old for it has become old due to being a long acquaintance and has lost touch due to familiarity.
In this I will say, familiarity and strong desire for power breaks relationships.
So, embrace the new as if it were the old and the old as if it were new. Do not let familiarity or strong desire for power make you lose touch.
For enemies will come out of our friends and friends out of our enemies with time and circumstance.
So, be wary. Treat friends as if they are the supposed enemies and enemies as if they are the supposed friends. Don't rely on any. For time and circumstance will create and break bonds showing the true face value of all.
Persians and the Jews were friends and had a common enemy which they fought to defeat it, now die hard enemies seeking eternal destruction of each other.
Would time and circumstance reconcile them?
The USA and the USSR had a common goal in WW II.
To destroy Hitler and his acquaintances, to this end Japan was brought to their knees.
The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki played a major, albeit not sole, role in forcing Japan's surrender, which resulted in the rapid withdrawal of Japanese colonial forces from China in 1945. The bombings, combined with the Soviet invasion of Manchuria, forced the Japanese government to announce its unconditional surrender on August 15, 1945, directly ending the Second Sino-Japanese War.
To this day, the Chinese and Americans are rival and enemies, seeking to destroy each other through diplomacy, power, bilateral relations, trade and military strength.
This is just a few from the list.
To whom should you be beholden?
To time and to circumstance.
Let fate be the arbiter.
For time and circumstance will reveal the friend and the enemy; breaking old bonds and forging new ones.
Let fate be the arbiter and time and circumstance the judge.
