THE ONE WHO IS POETRY
A Reflection by SIMU
There is a difference
a quiet, impossible difference
between someone who writes poetry
and someone who is poetry.
The one who writes poetry
has to reach for words.
They sit.
They think.
They search their mind
like a miner digging for gold
hoping a spark will show itself.
Their art is effort.
Their inspiration is a visitor.
Their creativity is a guest they must invite
with candles, silence, mood.
But the one who is poetry…
Baba, that one is different.
The one who is poetry
does not reach for words
words reach for them.
Imagery finds them before they even turn.
Thoughts gather around them like loyal soldiers,
waiting to be shaped.
They do not mine for gold
their mind is the gold.
They don’t call for inspiration
inspiration wakes them up in the morning
and whispers ideas at the edges of their dreams.
The one who writes poetry
creates when they choose.
The one who is poetry
creates because they cannot help it.
Writing is not their craft
it is their temperature.
Their natural weather.
Their oxygen.
When they see a simple moment,
they don’t just observe
they translate.
Every sound becomes a metaphor.
Every motion becomes meaning.
Every glance becomes a universe.
Their mind doesn’t store memories
it stores metaphors.
It doesn’t save images
it saves emotions.
It doesn’t describe life
it interprets it.
The one who writes poetry
can stop when tired.
The one who is poetry
carries the rhythm everywhere,
a pulse that never quiets,
a river that does not know how to dry.
Because poetry is not something they produce
it is something they are.
They don't need quiet.
They don’t need ritual.
They don’t need a muse.
Their very existence is the muse.
Their thinking is a verse.
Their breath is a cadence.
Their mind is a script unfolding
even when they are silent.
The one who writes poetry
crafts lines.
The one who is poetry
becomes the line.
One creates art.

is art.
