OUR GOLDEN OLD DAYS

Under the wide, warm African sky,
I see us running, you and I,
Barefoot, dust swirling at our heels,
Bound by the earth, where freedom feels real.

The morning sun a gentle call,
Its light a golden cloak for all,
Fields stretched open, endless and bright—
Dreams took flight in morning light.

Cicadas drummed their steady beat,
Leaves whispered secrets soft and sweet,
Birds sang out with joy so pure,
In every note, a bond secure.

In village squares, our voices soared,
In laughter rich, our spirits roared,
Not by blood, yet family still,
Our love, like roots, grew strong and willful.

We played hide and seek by the mango tree,
Counting stars, wild and free,
With every smile, every cheer,
Our souls drew close, so safe, so near.

Years may pass, but in my mind,
Those days stay vivid, bright, and kind—
Africa’s arms, holding us tight,
A love that shines through day and night.

*Inspired by the joy of African childhood, my poem reflects the warmth of friendships and carefree days spent under open skies. The laughter, village squares, visits, and sunlit fields became the heart of a bond that time can’t erase—memories rooted deeply, alive with each word I write.
