Nostalgia

Nostalgic was when we went gleaning
We gleaned all sorts of crops
I recall we would trod the stubbles in every farm
We scared off snakes and scorpions unharmed

The proceeds if sold, we would buy stationaries
And a football
My chums and I had lots of fun
We played and scored goals
But we had no goals

The hours we played unknown, left us famished
At night, the hide-and-seek curtains were drawn
As the moon illuminates the earth
Accompanied by the stars

We knew not what fear was
Sleep was optional
And every morning marks the day's happenings

These kept on happening
Trailing trends after trends
Time flew and the goals we had not, called
A purposeful turnaround from procrastination

The options we had left us with none
Stakes became higher each day
And if life smiled
We could not notice

The gas that was freer in its place
Vanished into thin air, unknowingly
And unknown also were our fears
Everything now so nostalgic
