NIGERIA AT SIXTY FIVE

Sixty-five years of independence have come and gone,
A nation born from dreams, yet still fighting to hold on.
Children's eyes wide with hunger, their bellies in pain,
No shelter from the blows, just tears like falling rain.
The air is thick with dread, buzzing like a swarm,
Families huddle in fear, as troubles take form.
The dark game of kidnapping, banditry's cruel song,
Leaves hearts aching for answers, wondering where they belong.
Roads are in disrepair, shadows cloak the way,
Clean water feels like a dream, slipping further away.
Empty promises linger, a cheer that feels so fake,
Yet deep in the hearts of Nigerians, hope refuses to break.
The innocent suffer in prisons, cold and stark,
While terrorists find a twisted light, leaving a mark.
Truth is buried deep, weighed down by deceit,
And falsehoods wear a crown, with a bitter, mocking beat.
Despite the scars of corruption and the grip of fear,
Nigeria's creative spirit shines bright and clear.
Nollywood's global presence, Afrobeats that move your feet,
A land of entrepreneurs and dreamers, where ambition can't be beat.
As Nigeria celebrates 65, a milestone to embrace,
It's time to reflect, to heal, to rebuild, to find our place.
With youthful energy, vibrant culture, and a GC drive to thrive,
Nigeria's future calls out, a chance to rewrite and revive.
