The voice of sorrow with melancholic thoughts
Wearied eyes of tears that refused to dry
Troubled body, spirit and soul, shouts
'Give me children lest I die!'
Speak to my womb and it'll come alive
Like You commanded and the bones arose
Touch my soul and my spirit shall thrive
Give me children lest I die!
My world's a shame without their cry
The home a battle when the desire is high
Peace of mind forlorn when the cot is dry
Give me children lest I die!
I'm an outcast among my own
My voice is lost my courage is drowned
My heart is bloody but not unbowed
Give me children lest I die!
My adversary relishes in my affliction
His family in rage with a terse decision
Sworn to deny me my place with ruthless aggression
Give me children lest I die!
For what's the joy of she, called a mother, without a child?
What's the glory of a father without a survivor?
What's the legacy of a leader without a successor?
Give me children lest I die!
As the arrows emboldens the mighty man
So are the children surety for a father
The image of the parents in the days of yore
Reminisces of our actions in our formative years
Lord give me children lest I die
For with what will I meet You my Saviour?
For thou will ask the fruit of my labour
What shall be my fate if my story is sour?
Let them arrive from the throne of grace
The abode of angels and saints of old
Who loved the Lord and earned His praise
Whose names we cherished when their tale is told
Not a brutal being like Jezebel of old
Nor the mischievous Judas who's heart is cold
But a Joanna and John who loved the Lord
Lord give me such children before I die!
