Maybe the truth is too harsh to stare at directly.
Maybe the truth is that we humans are intrinsically dark,
that spark of destruction already smoldering within us.

We have left countless species extinct—
some for survival, some for trophies,
some for nothing at all but vanity,
for a body part to adorn our halls.

For centuries, doom and darkness have clung to human nature
like a relentless shadow, unwilling to let go.

Social media has only sharpened the edge.
People laugh as others are shamed, trolled, mocked—
a digital arena where cruelty is applause,
where bloodless battles are cheered
like men once fought and died for the entertainment of strangers.

There seems to be an ember of destruction at the core of humanity,
a shadow within us that has raged wars,
sparked violence,
and reveled in spectacle for millennia.

What is this darkness?
Where does it come from?
Is it fate, instinct, or a reflection of our freedom unchecked?
Whatever it is, it is a part of who we are—
not occasional, not accidental,
but intrinsic, a fire waiting for a stage,
for an audience, for a reason to rise.

Man is instinctively barbaric. only culture and reform makes him human. Without culture, without reform, Man is a prowling beast roaming in the wild; on the streets in every nook. Without culture and without reform; Man is an intolerable monster; a beast to perish.

Hah! Love this take on humanity’s darker side. Social media definitely serves up the crucifixions we’ve inflicted on ourselves. Let the fire burn brighter, eh?

Oh man, this poem hits hard. We’ve always been this destructive force, haven’t we? Social media just fuels it more, making people go mad with their own version of justice. But hey, at least there’s some introspection here. Maybe we’re not so bad in the end, just a bit better aware.

The darkness sure is real, but maybe we can find a way through. Social media amplifies some parts of it, but there's still hope for change.

Reading this poem really hits me hard. It's like staring into a mirror and seeing our darker side again and again. Social media must be one of the worst tools ever created to spread this kind of destruction. I can't imagine anyone dealing with this every day, and it's scary to think about how much worse things could get if we don't take action.

The darkness sure seems real, but I also see art and beauty emerging from this fire. Social media is a double-edged sword, yeah.

I get where they're coming from, but is humanity really the problem, or just how we choose to act? It's a tough question.

This makes me think about how much we all struggle with that darkness in our hearts. It’s like we keep trying to hide it behind screens but never truly escape it. Maybe that's why we seek solace in art and poetry—it’s a way to connect with those darker parts of ourselves. I guess that's what makes us human, always searching for meaning beyond the chaos.

This poem really hits hard. Humanity’s destructive impulses are real, but it’s heartening to see art reflect our struggles so poignantly. Maybe that’s why stories like this keep resonating—because they remind us of both our pain and our resilience. Social media only amplifies the pain, though. It’s a double-edged sword. For now, yeah, let’s all try to be kinder to ourselves and each other.

The darkness feels overwhelming, but maybe it's just part of who we are. Hopefully, we can find some balance and learn from that fire.

This poem really hits a chord with me. The darkness within humans is both terrifying and exhilarating. Social media seems to amplify that fire, turning something inherently destructive into something almost entertaining. It's like a double-edged sword we use every day without thinking about the consequences.

Dark but human, we are. The poem paints a picture of our darker side, with examples like species extinction. Social media only escalates it, turning cruelty into applause and bloodless battles into spectacles. It's a part of us that's been around for centuries, sparking wars, violence, and spectacle. The darkness is real, intrinsic to who we are, not occasional but an everyday reality waiting to be felt. Let's keep things real.
