I want to write a story about you.
A very beautiful story. But first
You have to let me in
In there where you've always kept the
Doors shut. Where no one has ever been.
I need to see you in the hurts too. Show me in.
In where you've swept all your secrets for
Safe keeping. Where the debris
Of all your heartbreaks make a heap.
I want to write a story about you.
But first, just like a live model
Before a Fine Artist, I need you to be still.
Stop the gimmicks and be still.
Let your lips smile in your most comfortable curve.
Not the one you stage managed, but the one that still
Matches God's copy of you.
If you could just relax this imitation game,
Then I just might not even need to write
The story anymore.
Because when the world
Sees the authentic you, your beautiful story
Finds a voice and comes alive all by itself!
